In Love

I’m in love. Totally. Happily. Completely. Joyfully. Without Reservation. Hopelessly. Crazily. Helplessly.

I wasn’t looking for it. I wasn’t expecting it.

She wasn’t looking for it. She wasn’t expecting it.

Karma brought us together through a picture of a horse.

In each other’s writing we recognized ourselves. Our hearts spoke to each other. Our souls found kinship in our parallel healing. And love blossomed and grew.

I felt all the awkward shyness of a 16 year-old the half-hour before I called her for the first time. During the call we both ended up laughing at ourselves for having sweaty palms. We both have high-stress professional lives that allow no room for outward signs of nervousness but a simple phone call knocked us both back to a high school emotional response. It still makes me smile to think about.

I knew the first night I talked to her I was going to fall for her, I was going to fall hard, there was nothing I could do to stop it, and *I did not want* to stop it.

There have been very few nights we have not talked.

I told her I loved her for the first time 18 days after our first call and I have told her every day since. Nine days later she told me and she has told me every day since.

My heart had already known that she was falling in love, but it was lifted and it sang to hear the words. I had wimped out and told her in email. She quietly blurted it out at the end of a phone call and I am not sure which one of us was more surprised to hear it.

Nothing in my life has made me feel better than these words from her – every time I hear them. We speak them or type them into email, but the connection is directly between our hearts.

I feel her presence in my heart every day, through everything I do.

I have never given myself over to someone so completely. It feels wonderful and scary and exciting. She has blown through 20+ years of emotional defenses and has breathed new life into emotions either dormant or only partially given. And it feels incredible to feel these again – a reconnection to more pure versions of love and caring and desire.

Knowing the love is returned makes me strong, fills me with joy and brings me peace. I can feel this peace and joy settling over me, covering me completely with an almost physical weight. Like a warm blanket on a cold night.

The more we have learned (and continue to learn) about each other, the more parallel our lives and similar our outlooks, likes, and peeves are. Also the more similar our needs and the desire to fulfill them for each other. Neither of us has ever had a relationship with someone so like ourselves.

What happens when two healing spirits share their lives?

We will meet for the first time in just under a month.

I’ll bet my palms will be sweaty again…
